This document outlines the benefits the independent directors of closed-end funds can derive from membership in the Mutual Fund Directors Forum.

Although closed-end funds differ from mutual funds in a number of key ways - most notably in distribution and some of their operational characteristics - they are nonetheless still regulated investment companies and face many of the same difficult issues as other investment companies.  Thus, membership in the Mutual Fund Directors Forum can offer key benefits to the directors of closed-end funds.
