SEC to Consider ESG Rules for Funds, Advisers in May 25 Meeting

In an open meeting to be held on May 25, 2022, the SEC will consider whether to propose 1940 Act amendments that address investment company names that are likely to mislead investors about an investment company’s investments and risks. The amendments may also include enhanced prospectus disclosure requirements for terminology used in investment company names, as well as public reporting regarding compliance with the new names-related requirements. The SEC will also consider whether to propose amendments to rules and reporting forms for registered investment advisers, certain advisers exempt from registration, registered investment companies, and business development companies to provide standardized ESG disclosure to investors and the SEC. The open meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. and webcast on the SEC’s website at www.sec.gov. Panelists will discuss the SEC’s proposals and other ESG topics at the MFDF’s Fund Governance & Regulatory Insights Conference in Washington, D.C. on June 8-9, 2022. Registration is available here.
