Bill Hobbs, CFA, NACD.DC
Bill is a Managing Director and Deputy Leader of the EY Financial Services Center for Board Matters. His 35-year financial services career has spanned leadership roles in corporate strategy, enterprise risk management, wholesale banking, information technology, broker-dealer compliance, debt and equity capital markets, structured credit products, corporate treasury, mergers and acquisitions as well as operational efficiency advisory efforts.
For the Center for Board Matters, Bill leads board-mandated engagements and board training sessions, hosts board events and authors board-relevant thought leadership all with a focus on effective corporate governance. He is actively involved in private, public and pre-IPO assessments and leads such assessments with a focus on governance, legal, regulatory and investor relations-related matters. Bill completed the NACD Accelerate Program in 2023 and is NACD Directorship Certified®. Bill also participated in and successfully completed the Harvard Journey to the Boardroom program in the fall semester of 2024.
Prior to joining EY, Bill was a Managing Director at a global bank where he led the firm’s regulatory advisory practice within its capital markets and financial institutions investment banking group with a focus on the Dodd-Frank Act, Basel III as well as regulatory agency proposed rules and final guidelines.
Bill graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, earned his MBA at the Wake Forest University School of Business and is a chartered financial analyst charterholder.
