Phillip Payad, CPA, CA

Phil is Managing Director in the Financial Services Office (FSO) Assurance practice, where he leads EY’s FSO Labs, a multidisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists, and digital strategists. Under his leadership, the Labs drive innovation across EY’s U.S. practice through the development and deployment of emerging technologies leveraging artificial intelligence, automation, and analytics.

He also leads education initiatives on artificial intelligence for EY’s clients, informing management teams, boards, and audit committees across the financial services sector on governance, controls, and emerging trends in AI.

Before founding and leading FSO Labs, Phil was an auditor in EY’s Wealth & Asset Management practice, serving clients across mutual funds, hedge funds, and private equity. His experience spans complex audit and accounting issues including fund structuring, derivatives, valuation of private equity investments, and internal control environments.

Phil holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Arts from the University of Melbourne, is a Chartered Accountant in Australia, and a licensed CPA in New York, and completed the AI Applications for Growth Executive Program for Executives at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
