Dan Rooney
Dan is an audit partner in Deloitte's Financial Services practice with a focus on investment management. Over Dan's career, he has served a variety of financial clients, including registered mutual funds (including funds taxed as C-Corporations), exchange-traded funds, hedge funds, private equity funds, registered investment advisors, mortgage banks and broker dealers.
In 2018-2020, Dan was the assistant chief accountant within the Division of Investment Management at the SEC, where he was responsible for interpreting new accounting regulations and directing the financial reporting and accounting practices of investment companies in compliance with the federal securities laws. He worked closely with registrants and their auditors and counsel as well as with the staff in various offices. Among many topics, he focused on valuation, derivatives rule, fund reporting modernization proposal, custody rule, disclosure of financial information, and auditor independence.
