Joint Call: Nom/Gov Chairs Roundtable and Board Effectiveness Working Group

In June 2026, MFDF's Nom/Gov Chairs Roundtable and Board Effectiveness Working Group will meet jointly for a discussion of how fund board service/responsibilities differ from other types of board director roles.

Fund boards tend to value service on other types of boards when evaluating director candidates, and good governance practices can translate from one type of boardroom into another. However, there are key differences between fund boards and corporate boards.

Questions for discussion may include:

• Where have differences in responsibilities between corporate and fund board directors caused confusion or difficulty in your boardroom or recruitment process?
• Upon whom does the responsibility fall in the boardroom to ensure that the directors stay within their oversight lane?
• How has your board conveyed the differences in expectations for fund directors to executive search firms who may have more experience recruiting corporate directors?
• What insights/value do directors bring from other types of boards into your fund boardroom?

This call will be hosted on Zoom from 11:00am-12:00pm ET on Tuesday, June 16th and is open to independent directors and CCOs whose boards have active MFDF memberships.
