You Never Know Who You’ll Encounter: Register Now for MFDF’s 2027 Directors’ Institute
MFDF’s annual Directors’ Institute brings independent directors of registered investment companies together for a 2.5-day immersive experience built around candid discussion, practical problem-solving, and peer learning. The 2027 Directors’ Institute will take place February 1–3 in Amelia Island, Florida.
Each Institute features a new fictional case built around timely, reality-based issues. Participants draw on their own experience to identify and prioritize issues for board review from the case material, engage with faculty role-playing the fund’s management, and share practical takeaways. The participant mix is the program’s defining strength: typically, about half have attended a previous Institute and half are new. That combination of continuity and fresh perspective creates one of the industry’s most valuable peer-to-peer learning experiences.
The 2026 Directors’ Institute brought together participants from across the fund industry, with wide-ranging board roles, tenure, and complex sizes:
- 45 fund board groups were represented among the program participants.
- 12% of participants served as board chairs or independent lead directors on their fund boards, while 20% were in their first two years of board service.
- 22% of participants served on boards overseeing fund complexes with more than $275 billion in assets, while 13% served on boards overseeing complexes with less than $5 billion.
