SEC’s AMAC Meeting Focuses on Response to Pandemic, ESG, Private Equity

In a recent webcast meeting of the SEC’s Asset Management Advisory Committee, panelists discussed the industry’s response to the global pandemic and scheduled topics such as ESG and industry diversity. Representatives from consulting firm Casey Quirk noted that compared to the 2008 financial crisis the current challenges were met with quicker government response and “better bank capitalization and financial systems operations to date.” Casey Quirk warned of lingering risks related to liquidity as well as risks linked to the remote working environment. The subcommittee on ESG discussed its work on tackling fundamental issues such as what considerations would inform the assessment of ESG strategies and the appropriate role, if any, of ESG ratings systems and benchmarks.  The webcasts and supplementary materials can be found on the SEC’s website.
