Nasdaq Releases Report on Expected 2024 Boardroom Trends

The Nasdaq Center for Board Excellence recently released a report titled “Evolving Toward Excellence in the Boardroom: Expected Agenda Items in 2024.” The report highlights areas in risk oversight, technology and data security, and board effectiveness. Under each section, the report provides questions that board members may want to consider posing to better facilitate discussions on these topics. While the report is geared toward corporate directors, there is an impactful discussion of skills and habits that make boards more effective and efficient. Some of these factors include: a desire to learn, staying engaged, providing regular input, and voicing opinions that may run contrary to others. Additionally, the report notes “With AI and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s recent rule setting higher cyber incident reporting requirements for public companies, boards’ responsibility to understand cyber and emerging technologies is underscored.”
