Paul Atkins Sworn in as SEC Chair
On Monday, April 21 Paul Atkins was sworn in as the Chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Chairman Atkins was nominated by President Donald J. Trump on January 20, 2025, and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 9, 2025. In his first few months he will need to build out his personal staff, appoint division directors, and connect with existing staff on his priorities and goals for the Commission. This is certainly not Chair Atkins’ first time walking into the SEC, he has served in the past both as a Commissioner and as a member of the Commission staff. In remarks Chair Atkins noted, “As I return to the SEC, I am pleased to join with my fellow Commissioners and the agency’s dedicated professionals to advance its mission to facilitate capital formation; maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets; and protect investors.”
