MFDF Survey: Board Composition

MFDF has launched a new survey to collect data from fund boards about their composition – what experience, knowledge, skills, and backgrounds are represented in their boardrooms. The data from this survey will be published in a report that will illustrate who serves as fund independent directors, as well as illuminate similarities and differences in boards’ philosophies regarding composition. MFDF invites all fund boards, including traditional open-end mutual fund boards as well as closed-end fund, ETF, series trust, and BDC boards, to participate in the survey to yield a dataset that is representative of the full industry.

The survey is thorough and asks for relatively detailed information about the board structure and directors’ experiences. As such, Chairs of Nominating/Governance Committees may be best equipped to complete the survey on behalf of their boards. Only one entry is needed for each board. None of the information collected through the survey will be attributed in any way to any board, company, or participant. Survey participants may opt to receive an advanced version of the final report. The survey will remain open until December 1, 2025.
