Working Groups

Forum members are invited to provide input on the Forum's educational events by joining one of our working groups. Joining a working group allows members to be thought leaders on behalf of the independent director community. All working group and task force meetings are conducted via telephonic conference line.

  • Board Effectiveness Working Group meets periodically to discuss all aspects of fund governance. The discussions form both the basis for a comprehensive fund governance paper and allow independent director participants to share fund governance practices on a broad array of topics.
  • Closed-End Funds Roundtable is a group for directors of closed-end fund boards to discuss issues unique to their board responsibilities.
    • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Working Group is open to all races and genders, and meets quarterly to discuss issues related to diversity and inclusion on fund boards.
    • Directors of Color Networking Group is open only to directors of color with the objective of facilitating mentoring relationships, increasing industry visibility of diverse fund directors, and encouraging board recruitment of diverse candidates.
    • Educational Content Advisory Group meets bi-monthly to discuss topics and speakers for all MFDF educational programming including conferences and webinars.
    • Newer Directors Networking Group provides a venue for directors in their first five years of fund board service to connect with each other and form peer relationships in the industry, as well as offering educational content on the roles and responsibilities of fund independent directors to complement board-specific onboarding.
    • Nom/Gov Chairs Roundtable provides a regularly scheduled time for the chairs of Nominating and Governance Committees to gather and discuss current issues relating to succession planning, recruitment, onboarding and other committee responsibilities.
